The Dog Pound

Glasgow's student section is called, "The Dog Pound."  You never know what those rowdy teenagers will be up to at a ballgame.  When we played Barren County, they dressed up in the theme of Duck Dynasty, pulling out their best camo and hunting garb.  They dance, chant, and just do whatever they can to get under the skin of our opponents....all in the name of friendly sportsmanship, of course.  When we played the Bowling Green Lady Purples in the first round of the regional tournament, we had our own Dog Pound.
Sweet Carson sporting his Glasgow "G" and the Scottie paw print, of course.

Robin and I have cheered in several ballgames in this gym, but that was many years ago.  Now we're cheering on my hubby's team.  Thankful for my forever friend.
Our very own Dog Pound cheering on the Lady Scotties!

Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed

Justin and I love hanging out with our families.  We hadn't been together with my siblings, and their families, since Christmas.  So we were very ready to see each other and watch our kids play, play, play.  My parents put a heater in their garage and had several riding toys for the kids to enjoy.  At one point, we realized that four of the five kids (Canaan not included) were in the garage playing and we were all inside enjoying one another's company.  We couldn't believe we were getting alone time, without the kids.  And then the screams started.  Someone fell, someone took someone else's toy.  Oh my...we decided we needed to set up a rotation of an on-watch adult to be with the kids at all times.  So our crew is not old enough to play independently at this point.  But it won't be long until they will be, and then we'll worry when we don't hear them.
Nana and Grandaddy joined us for a little while, before they headed off to the Cougar Party.  I seriously hope to have as active of social lives as them when  I'm 80 years old!  They never cease to amaze me.

My mom loves to sing "Five little monkeys jumping on the bed" with her grandchildren.  In fact, she would sing this song even when she had only one monkey to jump on the bed.  Now that she actually has five, she's just in Heaven.  So after all the grandchildren, except Canaan, had baths in the whirlpool tub (which they love), they jumped and jumped on Mama and Daddy's king-sized bed.  I kept trying to say that this was an ER visit waiting to happen.
When it was all said and done, Canaan had a ball.  We had so much fun with our little monkeys!

Be still my 'heart'...

How many times have you wanted time to just kind of stand still?  The thought had never even crossed my mind....until I had children.
At the ballgame, on Valentine's Day, there happened to be a photographer from the newspaper present taking pictures of the game, as well as the Senior Night festivities.  He also happened to snap some photos of Hadley, which I know that I will cherish forever.

Maybe it's because the pictures are in black and white and give me that timeless feeling....I don't know.  But when I look at these pictures, I want time to just.stand.still.

Be still time....

Be still my 'heart.'

Happy Valentine's Day

We are working on Hadley's "v" sound;  it sounds like a "b" sound right now.  A few days prior to Valentine's Day,  I was explaining to her about it being a holiday to celebrate love.   She started rattling off so many things that she "lubs."  "I lub my baby dolls, I lub ketchup, I lub my polka dot blankey."  Then she proclaimed, in the sweetest possible voice, "I lub lub, Mommy."

Valentine's Day fell on the day of a ballgame for us this year.  Super romantic, huh?  Luckily, Justin and I celebrated the Saturday before by having a nice dinner out in Bowling Green, walking a few rounds around the mall, and then picking up a treat from Starbucks before heading back to pick up the kiddos.  It was such a nice time to be together and have adult conversation, though.  Sometimes you need to break away from daily tasks and talk about something besides what's for supper and to-do lists!

Hadley had a Valentine's Party at school, and her Granddad got to be her special guest.  She had treat bags and Valentine's for her classmates, and her little decorated shoebox was full of goodies when she got home.   She ate so much pizza, at her party, that she didn't even want supper that night.  I made homemade cards for Hadley and Canaan and got them a little Valentine goodie.
Hadley made Daddy this tissue-paper heart and I got homemade bath salts.  Can't wait to use those!
At church a few Sundays ago, I found something I made for Justin three years ago.  I had no idea that he had even kept it and was even more impressed that he keeps it in his Bible.  It's the little things sometimes, right?  Happy Valentine's Day from our family to yours!

Five Months

There is no way our precious baby boy is five months old!  I seriously feel like I just had him.  As I watch him get stronger, by the day, I am reminded that he is just not going to be a baby for long.  So while I have the chance to hold him even after he has fallen asleep, or rock him in his dark, still nursery by the hum of his humidifier, I take advantage of every opportunity.  Because I know it won't last long.  But I truly am soaking up every last minute with my take-my-breath-away sweetheart.

Canaan is on yellow veggies right now.  He loved squash and carrots and is on his sweet potato rotation right now and loves it!  We will start green veggies in a couple of days.  Then he gets rice cereal for supper and we top it off with the rest of a bottle right at bedtime.   I'm so glad he's getting food now and it's unreal just how much more satisfied he is.  Especially when it comes to sleeping!  Our little rock star now goes to bed at 7:30 (that is when we are actually home) and sleeps until I get him up to go to daycare.  Now many mornings he will be awake and just talking in his crib while I'm getting ready, but he doesn't cry or anything which is super helpful.  I am going to be totally honest and tell you how nice it has been to have just a little "down time" at night after putting Canaan to bed.  It took us 4 months to get there but it is so worth it!

Canaan loves to lay on his playmat and play, and turns over on his side to play with some of the dangling toys.  He is also getting used to his exercauser now and has just figured out that he can bounce in it.  We're working on sitting up but he's not super interested in that.  The boppy pillow doesn't provide a lot of support for our "leaning" boy, at this point.  He's super active with his arms and is already grabbing hold of dishes or cups that are near him.   We're having so much fun with our sweet boy!  Happy five months little one!
