All "A" State Tourney Bound

Getting to go back to the All A State Tournament, in Frankfort, was super exciting for our team and fans alike.  Winning the Regional All A Tournament is no easy feat, in our region especially.  My friend, Lacey, hand painted this special shirt for Hadley and surprised her with it at school one day.  Justin checked Hadley out of school and let her ride the bus with the team and spend the night in the hotel with him, after the first game.  She even sat on the bench, during the game, holding tight to the piece of net Justin cut down for her after the Regional win.
That piece of net must have brought us good luck because we won the first round game.  After work the next day, Cathy, Canaan, and I made the trip up to Frankfort to catch the second round game on Friday.
We always love it when Granna comes along with us.  There is nothing she wouldn't do for her babies and we always appreciate her support and help.  This seven month pregnant mama needs all the help she can get.

Unfortunately, we weren't quite able to pull out a win in our quarterfinal game.  We played and fought hard, but fell a little short in the end.

Getting to the state tourney and playing in an arena in our state's capital is such a neat opportunity for our girls, though.  The fact that just two short years ago we came up here and won the entire tournament still shocks me.  We are proud of our girls, though, and look forward to what the rest of the regular season brings our way.  Go Lady Scotties!

Another Monstrous Snow

What are the odds of southcentral Kentucky getting another historic snow; two winters in a row.  This time around, we measured over a foot of snow.  Yes, that's right, a foot of snow.  Watching that much snow fall is truly a spectacular sight.  I even videoed several seconds of the snow, as it was falling, just to remember how it sounded.  We were totally prepared and had plenty of milk, bread, and soup on hand to enjoy our snowed-in days.

The kids couldn't wait to play outside and since I'm extremely pregnant, I stood on the porch and watched Justin play with the kids.  I helped reapply mittens and took lots of pictures and loved watching their little faces light up with excitement.

A snowball fight occupied a great deal of their outside play this year.  Hearing Hadley's squeals as she would throw a snowball and take off running the other way to dodge Daddy's payback was just priceless.

Justin worked for a hours shoveling a path for our van to eventually be able to leave the driveway.  He bit the dust a few times while he was working and said it was seriously hard work.

Our snow maniacs really enjoyed life-sized icicles this year.  Canaan wanted to use his as a sword but Hadley wasn't super in to that sort of play.

Just like last year, I left a sheet in our front room where Justin and the kids would strip off all the layers of wet clothes, to let them dry before heading out again.  We had enough clothes to clothe a community, I do believe.  We loved having snow cream as late night dessert, after our soup suppers.  We loved every minute of our winter stay-cation and wonder if next year will bring us yet another historic snow.  If not, it has sure been fun while it lasted!

Hanging with American Girl

We are having so much fun with Hadley's new doll.  They have worn matching jammies every single night since Christmas.  Hadley has watched YouTube videos on how to care for her doll's hair, organized all her clothes in one special drawer, and makes sure she is responsible and careful with her.

She has also had campouts in her new tent, which is in her bedroom.  We made a comfortable pallet for Hadley and her doll and she just begged to sleep there all night.  I really didn't figure she would last the entire night, but she did both nights she tried it.
After quite some time, I decided to sneak back in and see how she was doing.
Looks like the campout was a success!  She was so excited when she woke up, the next morning, that she had actually done something so "big."

She and her doll even wore their matching Scottie outfits to our first ballgame after Christmas.  They were just too stinking cute for words.  Oh, I love this sweet time, watching Hadley love on her baby doll and be a little mommy, taking great care of her.  Can't wait for more adventures with our American Girl Doll!
