Family Pool Time

There are really no words to describe the kind of heat we have experienced here in Southcentral Kentucky over the past 3 weeks.  Literally, take your breath away kind of heat.  When you step outside your home it feels like you are stepping into an inferno.  You hear elderly people say they've never seen anything like it in their lifetime.  We actually reached 110 degrees one day last week.  Really the only places you can comfortably be at a time like this is either in the A/C or in a pool.  And that is pretty much where I have stayed during this unbelievable time.  So many people have expressed genuine concern for my current state by asking, "How are you doing with this weather?"  I smile and say just fine because I stay in the A/C!  My heart really goes out to people who work outdoors in times like these.  I truly don't know how they do it.
Every afternoon, after either Hadley's lengthy nap or us picking her up from daycare, the three of us have had some quality family pool time.  I have to say, it has been so nice to just throw our suits on and be able to hit the pool for an hour or so before walking back inside and starting supper.  It's amazing how much a dip in the pool can really cool you off, even though the water is like bath water at this point.
We are having to add water to the pool every other day or so because it is evaporating so quickly.  Hadley loves to play with the water hose when it's in the pool.  She asks one of us to "make it rain" and then she loves to act like it's really raining on her.  She and I take a float to shield us when Justin makes it rain on us.  I'm not as crazy about the "rain," myself.
Our little fishy, swimming her heart out.  We are so proud of how well she has done this summer.
Oh how I love those sweet little legs.  Is baby fat not the cutest thing in the world?
Hadley calls the noodle her horsey, and she and Justin ride the horsey together.  Not only does she have to ride her horsey, though, she also has to water and kiss it, too.  Oh her imagination!  And, naturally, she always has to steal a drink or two from the hose.
I love her to pieces.

Sometimes I will head indoors a little early, to start supper, and I love to hear their laughter coming from the pool.  I truly love this sweet family time.  Sometimes I'll just sit and watch them and imagine our family pool parties next year when the little guy is joining us.  It seems so hard to believe that 3 years ago we had no children and were a family of two, and that in approximately 2 months, we'll be a family of four.  It's amazing how quickly things change, and I'm so thankful for that.   So as hot and miserable as the past few weeks have been, the family pool time has been such a sweet reminder of our little blessing(s).
